This Week I…
Stacked My Priorities.

I have unfinished work and new ideas and I have decided to stop waiting for the right time to get to them.

This week I made a decision.

I have been sitting with a catalog of unfinished work — series that are mid-sentence, characters who have been waiting for me patiently, storylines I began with full intention and then set down to attend to everything else life required. The everything else has been attended to. It is time to get back to the work.

"The writing comes first now. Not when things settle. Not when the calendar clears. Now."

What you will see more of on The Veranda in the coming weeks: Lethal Lace moving deeper into what Feyi actually is and what the lace actually wants. Confessions of a Cheating Wife following Rose past the suitcase and into whatever comes after a man decides he is done. New series you have not seen yet — Powerlines: Bloodline is coming, Zeresh is coming, and there is something else I have been carrying that I am not ready to name yet but will be soon.

I am also building The Veranda into the kind of magazine I always wanted to read. Which means more of everything that makes it what it is — the essays, the takes, the confessions, the advice, the fiction. More Thursday drops. More of the work done in public, at pace, without waiting for it to be perfect before it is seen.

The only thing I have stopped waiting for is permission. I gave it to myself this week.

You will see what that looks like.
